Hourlies get tuition reimbursement also. It's called earn and learn.

Another thing to think about -you lose your job protection if you go into supervisor position. We have a new supervisor (union one year) that put in his letter in September , completed all of the training and etc - just became a P/T supervisor and recently he has been informed of being laid off after Christmas. He's not too happy.

If you want to keep your job, I suggest you stay hourly. Of course this depends on the operation you are working within.

If you plan on living off this job for your life and don't see yourself going full-time as an hourly, you might want to risk everything and go for the P/T sup.

Welcome LaUpser,

You came to the right place. Here at the interwebs, more specifically browncafe, we do not post rumors. That is a bannable offense. You will only read truth here. The pay for specialists is $35,400/year. No exceptions. The starting pay for FT sups (in an operation) is $83,757/year. Again, absolutely no exceptions. FT operational sups get the "Most Important People" (MIP) payout at the end of the year. This takes the form of stock. This number fluctuates year to year. It can be anywhere between $22,400-$22,445/ year. As you probably guessed, no exceptions.

If you want to start at the bottom, PT sups make $41,878/year. This number was formulated in 1987 by simply dividing the starting salary of a FT by two. This is because a PT sup does exactly half the work of a FT sup. No exceptions. Hope that helps.

If you see people disagree with this in later postings, rest assured they are spreading propoganda and their IPs will be traced. Then the "jackals" (hired mercenaries that are usually hired by the CIA, but in this case UPS) from UPS corporate will track them down and ruin their credit for trying to hurt UPS.

That was funnier the first time you posted it.

P.S. in Lousiana ( the least American, outlaw state of America ) you couldn't work 3 jobs and make 41k a year, nevermind a :censored2::censored2::censored2::censored2:ty P/T UPS job ;p

My apologies, I only put it together to have a quick answer for a question that WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER be answered 100% accurately on these boards. I know it will lose it's humor to those that have seen it before. It is rediculous that people want finite answers on something so apt to change quarter to quarter/ region to region. This person is no where near "signing on the dotted line". If they were, these questions would have already been answered.

Anyways, I am interested what you brought up. Is the average income in Louisiana (at least that you know of) that much lower that 41k with a full time job?

Yeah, it is impossible to answer those questions. And you know someone who is entirely gullible or uninformed will take you seriously and sign on the dotted line. :)

It's one of the poorest states I've ever been to. Very, very poor and outside of N.O. and some cajun/French interests, not somewhere you want to visit frequeuntly.

Welcome to Browncafe Archie Bunker.

I do less work than Archie Bunker. :biting::biting: Thank you for the welcome, but I am in no way bigoted and did complete schooling beyond high school. Louisana generally is not a nice place to live and , if UPS paid 41k/year to work part-time, it would't be in there.

so yall say 41k starting out p/t ?

haha not likely, try like half that in reality. "A friend of mine" takes home about $725 after taxes/deductions every two weeks. When you factor in that we probably work about 4.5-5hrs a day its not a bad gig. However grow some tough skin, you will get blamed for everything (actually its not so bad at my building) when you have no control over about 95% of what they're on your case for or even just plain lack of common sense on whoevers complaining. For example one driver supe likes to be a maroon and throw in my face (not jokingly either) that he's found a package under my belt when I haven't even got down to checking that end yet (he does it as he walks in, I start at the other end of the belt...yes sometimes its things THIS stupid). Clearly he feels the need to feel superior, but one time I simply responded have fun shagging misloads til dinnertime. Shut him up right quick. I don't care because I know its rarely my area that causes the problems. You have to have a voice or you will get walked all over, just like as an hourly, but pick your battles a bit more carefully lol.

Everybody is a bigot in some way and those that say they aren't are lying.
Agree with that but it doesn't hurt to point out that something said is bigoted in case they are not aware of it. One has to work hard to see themselves as they really are.

Don't do it for the money unless you think you can go into full time management. You really have to sell some BS as a manager or supervisor. Not all sups and managers are jerks, but you really do have to be firm and believe that your idea of life consists of letting your district managers and IE tell you what's best for your center. Now unless you're in the center where they are out of, understand that they have probably never been to your building, won't know it's nuances, and probably won't care about reality. If it works in one building, it works in them all is the general thought process. If your comfortable with getting yelled at from the top and bottom and are comfortable with regurgitating what your full time sup tells you to do then be my guest. I have worked with lots of really good sups and managers in my 12 years as a UPSer. But I also believe that I've been blessed to work where I have worked. Some buildings have earn and learn, others don't. If you plan on going to school and are just using ups as a stepping stone to move on in your career, then you could do little better anywhere else. If you just need something for in the mean time, stay part time get the benefits and grab a 2nd pt job until you go full time. Don't do it for the money, it's short term benefit long term misery.

Take some time to write an intelligent post and you'll get much better replies.

I would call it soft bigotry but these are your remarks:

P.S. in Lousiana ( the least American, outlaw state of America ) you couldn't work 3 jobs and make 41k a year, nevermind a sh**ty P/T UPS job.

It's one of the poorest states I've ever been to. Very, very poor and outside of N.O. and some cajun/French interests, not somewhere you want to visit frequeuntly.

These statements hit me as superficial and judgmental in nature. I'm sure many Louisianians would find these objectionable.

If you grew up there or lived there and left to pursue your dreams - fine.
These people have their culture and are quite happy with it, I'm sure.
