When would I have to be back by? What if the route goes up for bid but my return is in a few weeks

Do you know the circumstances? I know the route is going up for bid in 1-2 weeks. My return date is 2-3 weeks. I will just miss it if I'm unable to bid.

Im not sure what the contract says. I know if I do bid it, lower senior guys may grieve it because they know im out on disability because a lot of people may want the route potentially.

Ask stewart to put your name on the bid sheet.

It was a long time ago. Bid it. If you have the seniority to win it, it'll be there when you get back.

Great question, would think it would depend on local. Our shop steward retired when I was in package and no one let me know. I would have ran to be shop steward. No clue if I would have been able to. Never got a straight answer. Also another driver I know went on disability while in progression, reached top rate while still out, and his disability pay never reflected reaching top rate. Apparently while you’re out, it doesn’t matter if you reach top rate.

You can sign the bid sheet....

But, that doesn't mean you will be awarded it.

Every Supplement or Rider spells out the time limits on when, and for how long

a bid is posted. There is a time limit on how long the company has to award

and implement the bid. If you are not available during the time it is required for

the bid to be filled.... you could be out of luck. Especially, if a junior seniority

    driver files a grievance.

Short of any Supplemental, Rider, or established past practice....

the company is not required to hold it for you, if you are not available.

I cant find much on the time allowed ill have to fine that out. But if i will be back in a few weeks, that should be within the time
