I'd say that's actually a great idea, but what do I know, I'm a part-time box monkey... You're right that A LOT of part-time supervisors provide a NEGATIVE net value. Like I said, the vast majority of them are only good for making me money. I'm the pick on the metro I work on and today the first two hours of flow were INSANE, and in the meantime a load area was trashed (backed up all the way to me) within 30 minutes of the shift starting (it's easily the heaviest area on the metro). The loader there is a beast and just barely keeps up with the flow, but didn't show up today. There were THREE supervisors working that load area to hold it down, two part-time and one full-time. In the meantime I was trash-talking them (in the middle of picking heavy volume accurately, I'm good at multi-tasking) about how all they're good for is making me money and asking how many supervisors it takes to load a load area...while the same supervisors give loaders crap about wrapping up on time when THREE supervisors can't even hold the area down...ridiculous. I probably made about $300 between those 3 supervisors working grievances today...and that's more than both part-time supervisors were paid for the day AND more than I made for the day combined! Talk about inefficiency...
