I get my monies worth in strokes, that's for sure. And I always make that one perfect shot that makes me want to come back and play another round
I love competing. I loved playing sports as a younger dude, but can't play football or basketball anymore. Golf gives me an outlet to get that competition out of me.

I also refuse to cheat, I count every single stroke and penalty shot.

If you don't care about the score there is no point of cheating.

I shoot about the same range as you. You really need to play more often to get much better. My friends usually allow 1 Mulligan per round though. Not enough to change your score much but does erase a shot you would like to forget.

If I had a mulligan for every shot I'd like to forget, I'd need a few more than one

When I first started, my buddies said that we weren't on tour, so improve your lie, I rarely did, though, unless it was just sitting horribly bad

Yeah most of the time I wouldn't hit it any better if I tried to improve the lie so it was pretty pointless for me. I would do it if the course was in really bad shape though. Cheap courses get that way. I seldom played at the better ones.
