If you want loud, find yourself and old McCulloch Pro 10-10.

Earsplitting even with protection.

I've got a McCulloch Power Mac 10 that I use for trimming branches. I once lost the muffler off of it and my neighbor who is far enough through the woods that I can't see him in the summer came over and asked if I could please not run it because it was so loud. I had ear plugs in and it still drove me nuts. Thankfully I found a muffler for it.

But, they cut like a sumbitch.

I bought mine in 1972 and I think the only thing I've done with it (other than replace a muffler that vibrated off) was change the spark plug maybe twice. Its got a million miles on it. A friend was cleaning out his dads shop and found just the power head (no chain or bar) in a pile of junk so he gave it to me. Turned out it runs great so now I have a spare motor.

If it doesn't already have electronic ignition, I would recommend it. So easy and cheap to do.

Mine has always been a SOB to start----minimum of 15 to 20 pulls. Its been that way pretty much since new. BUT---it always starts eventually. Is the electronic ignition just a kit you buy and how much?

I bought a genuine Oregon (made in Taiwan) module off ebay for $17 with shipping. Took about 10 minutes to install. I went the extra mile by removing the flywheel to remove the old points and condenser. Way better spark at starting. Revs better too, so they say. Haven't used it yet, so I don't have any frame of reference.

This thing is a universal kit, so it may or may not apply to your old Mac. Depends on how it is built. You just cut the wire from the points and connect it to the positive marked terminal and ground the other one where you screw down the module. Easy peasy.

You don't happen to have a part # for it. I buy all my small engine parts from jackssmallengine.com. Always great service and very reasonable prices.
