It is a POS computer program UPS created that is supposed to put the deliveries in the most efficient order according to the mileage you have to drive. The problem is it doesn't account for things like business closures, traffic (like school gets out at 3, kids everywhere!) and reality in general. Lets say you have a next day air to deliver in the morning. ORion will want you to deliver all the ground stops nearby in between air stops, it is just not realistic you will end up with late air or you will end up in the middle of you business's at 12-1 when many are at lunch so you end up wasting more time. Not only that but the ORION order for delivery is not how the preloader loads the truck, so it has you digging all over the truck to find stops. As for projected mileage, drivers are some how able to beat it by 20 or 30 miles. Super dumb system but UPS must make it work or the stock will take a massive hit. UPS wants to sell ORION program to other companies in the future too so they need to make it seem like they didn't waste millions on a broken computer program.
