I had a person, who has been at UPS one year now, ask me if they can make them work a 6th day?
Said with lack of people they might start scheduling 6 days a week.

Central here....

The question came up here for our pre-load. First; a 6th punch does not constitute OT if you are part time, unless you exceed 40 hours in a week or 5 on a particular shift. The ruling or better yet the interpretation from my local was that although you could be encouraged to work the 6th day no discipline could be applied if you didn't.

Not in the Central.

There was an issue in the Central, where 22.3 and part-timers were signing

up for Saturday and Sunday sorts. Once they did, Sunday was the beginning

of the work week. Well.... they would come in, and either be sent home or

"took themselves out-of-service" just to get the premium pay on Friday and

Saturday. Payroll eventually caught on.... after 2 years.

It only took them 2 years?

I thought they were supposed to be smarter than that.
