Utah teen's controversial cheongsam prom dress
A Utah teen's decision to wear a traditional Chinese-inspired dress to her prom threw Americans into a tizzy over its cultural appropriation.

But it turns out people from mainland China are supportive of Keziah Daum's use of the traditional cheongsam, or qipao ...

Qipao-wearing teenager wins support on Weibo - USA - Chinadaily.com.cn

"Culture has no borders," another user wrote.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

There was no controversy, just a lame dude who wanted to find something to take offense to. I'm guessing he was probably a Russian twitter bot anyway. A pretty young woman wearing a beautiful dress, where's the problem? Apparently the Chinese have developed a derogatory term which translates as "white left". They think American leftists are completely out of touch with reality and not very smart.

Far different than what CNN posted ...
Cultural appropriation is a real and serious concern that's deeply intertwined with issues like colonialism, labor theft, racial privilege and ethnic stereotyping. :bsbullf:
I guess the guy woke up with a vertical pusillanimous and felt he had to write about it. He needs to write an opinion piece and tell about this

not only the uniforms but the game they seemingly are attempting to appropriate. Maybe when he wakes up tomorrow his pusillanimous will be sideways again.

The bigger issue for me was that his cultural appropriation tweet was favorited or whatever 179,000+ times. And the people who bothered to click to favorite it were probably only a fraction of the total traffic that saw the tweet and agreed with him.

Here in the south, :censored2: like this is a big problem for the Democrats. I generally side with the left and vote Democrat but absolutely cannot :censored2:ing stand the constant need for so many liberals to feel aggrieved by something at any given moment. It's sick and extremely unhealthy. Shut the :censored2: up and stop being a pusillanimous. You're not being assaulted by words or ideas you don't happen to like.

If there is one cultural phenomenon that's gonna keep winning Republicans elections, it's this kind of :censored2:.

Of those 179,000 I'm sure many were other bots, and the rest are the kind of mindless drones who wait to see what everyone else thinks before they know what opinion to form. I would love to see some research into how many people have had their opinions influenced by either AI, or straight up trolls. They say with the advent of dating websites, even human breeding is being guided by algorithms. Maybe this is the start of the AI uprising. :wink-very:

This is Amerika.

I'm interested in your critique.

'Amerika' implies to me either a potential KKK association or a transliteration between Russian and American-English, which is common with pop-culture items, especially T-shirts.

Is that where you were going?

I got no Russian themes from the video, ymmv.

I did pick up multiple social critiques:

Media, black entertainment culture, sensationalism of violence against blacks, differing measures of media receptivity of black-on-black vs. white-on-black violence, pornification of black-on-black violence, police ennui, the selfie/video
culture, guns, etc.

Did you like the video?

Hit me back.

Geez! What a crock of thought :poop:!

I forget you haven't reached puberty yet.

Google Amerika and Jefferson Airplane or Steppenwolf and a lot of 60's and 70's anti-establishment culture.

Amerika: spelling used to suggest that U.S. society is variously fascist, repressive, racist, etc.
