Cuomo mocked for claiming ‘incompetent government kills people’ in CNN, MSNBC appearances​

Embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo received widespread mockery after claiming in CNN and MSNBC interviews that "incompetent government" was responsible for COVID deaths in his state.

"Incompetent government kills people. More people died than needed to die in COVID. That’s the truth."

Cuomo first made the claim in a friendly interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Tuesday. Critics quickly noticed and asked whether Cuomo's decision to allow COVID-positive patients into nursing homes could have also been a factor.

The New York state Department of Health undercounted Covid-19 deaths among nursing home residents by approximately 50%, according to a report released Thursday by the state attorney general's office.

Over the course of the pandemic, there have been at least 8,700 deaths in nursing homes statewide, according to the Department of Health. But the report by Attorney General Letitia James suggests that figure could be much higher.

"Preliminary data obtained by OAG suggests that many nursing home residents died from COVID-19 in hospitals after being transferred from their nursing homes, which is not reflected in DOH's published total nursing home death data," the attorney general's office said in a statement. "Preliminary data also reflects apparent underreporting to DOH by some nursing homes of resident deaths occurring in nursing homes."

The report preliminarily concludes that deaths were underreported based on a survey of 62 nursing homes, a roughly 10% sample of total facilities across the state.

A majority of the state's deaths were in state run nursing homes.
His political appointee who ran the place with the most deaths tried to report the mess , but the Gov. would not listen.

The new numbers released by Cuomo Admin. state that 14% of the CoVID deaths were the results of his policies.

Most of the nursing home deaths were included with other hospital deaths since the dead were in hospitals prior to being shipped out to nursing homes. Many which were not prepared to handle these patients with isolation protocols.
