Delivery truck hits pedestrian in fatal accident - Daily Iberian

Maj. Wendell Raborn with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office said the pedestrian-vehicle accident happened at 10 a.m. Maturin was pronounced dead at the scene by the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office.

Raborn said the driver, who had made a delivery inside the store, apparently didn’t see the pedestrian and hit him while driving away. The victim, who had a foot injury and was crawling in front of the truck, Raborn said, was pinned under the front axle. Passersby intervened and stopped the truck.

They always say the four foot rule so you can see what's around your package car. It's probably even more with the newer ones.

They are no longer a pedestrian, after they begin to crawl.

What if the crawler is coming from the driver’s side of the vehicle and is just rounding the front left bumper as you’re heading back up the truck’s steps post-front/under/behind check?

Terrible that the driver’s gonna have to live with this.
