Just to add a conclusion to last night's post, which might have gone a little aggro, or been a few beers beyond nice - I went and toured that house, and while there's a lot about it we loved, the size in relation to the price tag isn't one of them. The price tag, in general, wasn't something I loved either...in fact, without some serious sacrifices, I definitely could not afford it. While I have very little debt, and my expenses are fairly low, this house was $600,000, and I cannot really justify that without living there year round. I do not want to live that far from work, even though the area is fantastic, and it has every amenity you could really need within a 3 mile drive or so. But the winters here are a bitch, my family lives where I currently live, and driving 45+ mins to work and to visit them isn't what I want to do at this point in my life - after I retire, or shortly before, this might change. I am really looking for a second home, to live in for a few months per year in the summer, or to periodically stay in, like you would treat a cottage. This house wasn't that. At least not on what we make, that is. Oh well. I'll continue to look for the right fit. Perhaps it might have to be on a smaller, less popular lake. If I don't want to pay a half-million bucks or work exclusively to pay for this 2cd home until the day I retire, and beyond, at least.
