Retroactive pay raises are normally the result of working under the provisions of an expired contract.

They were also probably dealing with the issue of DHL re-entering the market in 50+ cities to start competing with us & FDX again. Perhaps even look for Bezos to buy the North American unit

It took almost a year to get that contract worked out. Yeah they got there two days off!
