You have to work a minimum # of hours the year before (I think it’s around 650 but I’m not sure of the exactly #) in addition to meeting the medical criteria to qualify for FMLA but yes....PTers could qualify for up to 6 weeks unpaid time off for FMLA. You can take the leave intermittently (if that’s how you apply for it) so you can use it to take individual days off (for say dr appts, etc) instead of just a six week block off. UPS doesn’t like this and may tell you that you can’t do that, but you are well within your rights to do so once your FMLA has been approved.
