This litany of rationalizations is meaningless. No other government programs do we make contingent on whether we like the people in the government program. If a student gets a pell grant to go to college, we don’t care if the student underage drinks, or that a lot of those students do drugs, or date rape other students, or cheat on tests. We don’t say hey a lot of bad peopl participate in the pell grant program we should cut it or I’m upset about the immorality of these students. Why should we help all students who qualify for pell grants pay for college, we should only help the good ones who aren’t cheating the system. If you own a home and claim the mortgage interest deduction again we don’t care if you are an alcholic, if you verbally abuse your spouse and children, we don’t care if you even cheat on your taxes or speed. We don’t say a lot of bad people claim the home mortgage interest deduction and I’m upset about their immoral behavior why should we help all home owners. We should only help the “good ones”. And certainly for the extremely wealthy, we don’t care at all that their are bad people benefitting from the aid the government gives to them. So mfers can rationalize why they hate certain groups of Americans who benefit from so called “welfare programs” and race is a huge part of that, but that’s just it. It is a rationalization. They don’t care about all the other immoral or bad people benefitting from various government programs. Only the ones who benefit from “welfare programs”. That’s my whole point.
