All the guys I know who started their training RT are in the same boat as you. All the drivers who recently made book were temps and got jerked around for at least a whole year before making book. I Started before peak 2016, got laid off in Jan because of how slow it was and then got called back in April and worked my 40 days and made book but that was because they needed a lot of drivers for Saturday ground before it started. As far as I was told, sups told drivers not to bump me from the RT because I was training on it. Perhaps the real reason why drivers didn't bump me was because they knew that sups would retaliate if they did (which is what they do) and they just didn't want to deal with that.
If you have a plan B, go for it. This isn't the best or only place work at. Shady company? you bet your ass it is and Sups are worst. Sanitation, Policemen, Firefighter, Court Officer...take all the tests that you can. If you're into IT,
Google just started offering a course that could land you an at least $50k job in IT, which is pretty decent in my opinion. I started the course and I hope to leave UPS as soon as I can.
UPS driver vets had it easier back then, some of them know how bad it is now for an outsider to come into this mess. Hell, I know a lot of 20 and 25+ years guys that went into working inside and left their routes. Its not going to get any better,
