Dumb things you've seen other drivers do

So there's a post about 'dumb things we say and do' but nobody wants to blame themselves...so lets blame the car next to us!

Yes, this is another thread...Let the eye rolling commence! HORAY! :peaceful:

Today we were told by our union stewards the next firing will be due to headphones being used on the job (cell phone or music doesn't matter).

Fast forward to end of day where I see one of our idiot drivers. You know, the 'untouchables' walking out of the building, infront of the car wash station (high traffic area) yacking with two ear phones in. I tell'em, 'dude, didn't you hear that they're looking to fire someone for that?' and he gives me the, 'friend-off, I'm off the clock and on the phone'.

Hmm, so when a car runs him over and UPS fires him over it I guess then I can tell'em, 'I told you so :D'

I`ve seen feeder drivers run behind backing feeders that had no idea they were there. Which to many of us is a cardinal sin.

I've seen lots of dumb stuff but I just let it go. I don't worry about what others do as much as I used to, it's not worth it and it wont change.

Dumb things I've seen other drivers do......

-skip lunch
-work off the clock (example: doctoring their loads)
-attempt to park their trucks while talking on their cell phone
-park their truck in the wrong space on more than one occasion
-run over washing equipment
-come in to work an hour early for no reason other than to hang out
-not put fuel in their truck because they know they aren't working the next day

..other drivers do... did you mean just UPS drivers or only the general public drivers ?
Because if its general public drivers the dumbest thing I've seen them do is actually drive thinking that they own the road.

Alright, lemme rephrase. ALL UPS personnel - management (cause they do to many dumb things to list).

Another was an unloader RUNNING beside a semi opening the side doors while it was backing. I think he's a future squishy.

Add: Drivers that don't leave their fuel cards in their truck and then bitch when their trucks don't get fueled.
Boy!, there's one for the pet peeve thread!
You can say that again!!!!!

Heard from several drivers:
:
Driver "Bob" is delivering an office chair to an office. Driver pissed, tired and hot lugging heavy chair. Yells out "which one of you fat "butts" broke their office chair."
driver fired, but got job back.

Driver "Bill" deliver package to office and smacks a worker in the butt trying to be flirtatious.
Driver fired, but got job back.

Driver leaves bulk head door open during peak. Makes turn and door slams shut on the helpers elbow. Broken bones.

Driver "Ron" gives an air from his truck to "Ray" (the unreliable driver). Doesn't do an ED transfer or a re-spa(?). Ray "forgets" to deliver said package and brings back to hub and throws on slide. Ron gets a warning letter for failure to make attempt and Ray dennies anything to do with it!!

You should see the feeder drivers on their phones at 3am going down the road with a set of doubles.

Or trying to back a 53' trailer on a door talking on cell phone.
Can't they say, "I'll call you back in a couple of minutes."?

Or get a headset?

I was on the wrong end of that once. I was training as a cover driver and it was my first day. I was sitting in the jump seat as my on-car sup was driving. Left the bulkhead door open and rounded a turn. The door slammed on my arm before and after my elbow. I couldn't move my arm for 2 days and the bruise was very large and colorful. I was very lucky that I didn't break any bones. The sup is still my on-car sup 5 years later. I remind him of what he did to me when I'm getting the screws put to me from time to time. :)

That's when driver Ray gets followed off the property and off the clock with no witnesses and given a beat down he so richly deserves. There's still room for old school.

One time I was backing on to the dock on property (We don't have inside parking just exterior dock doors) and a sorter/unloader jumps out of the dock door I am backing on to to tell me that this set of docks was closed for the evening. I almost squished the poor guy as I was about 8 feet from the dock when he exited. Without the camera I wouldn't have seen him.
