I would like to applaud the author for actually knowing what a semi-automatic weapon is.

"A semiautomatic gun is one that, when fired, loads the next round of ammunition automatically, but requires a squeeze of the trigger for each shot."

More importantly it must have “selective-firing” capabilities.

The original AR/CAR-15’s we’re never described as “Assault Weapons” to my knowledge. Certainly not the AR-10....
