FedEx Buying TNT

It will be fine

I guess we'll find out if Fred has as much pull with European lawmakers as he does here. UPS got blocked for antitrust concerns, but it sounds like FedEx will get around that.

The ironic thing is they have unions in Europe. FedEx Express couriers really are the poor, red headed stepchildren.

The only similarity between unions here and in Europe is the word "union".

TNT will remain unionized.

We shall see. When FedEx had it's first big time "go" in Europe, they tried to break the unions. Any surprise there?

If it means paying employees a decent wage, Fred will be against it.

Don't be silly, Upstate. If FedEx can kill a European union, they will do it.

There's no way FedEx will be able to bust a union in Europe. If they try then every other union will go on strike. I'd say this is publicity that Fred would want to avoid.

As for a monopoly, FedEx has a much stronger international business than UPS. So expanding in Europe might well be a valid concern.
