FedEx Seeks Missing Shipment of Radioactive Rods Used in CT Scan - Bloomberg FedEx Corp. is looking for a missing shipment of radioactive rods used by hospitals to calibrate CT scanning equipment. The rods were sent this week to Memphis, Tennessee, from Fargo, North Dakota, Sandra Munoz, a spokeswoman for the Memphis-based company, said today in a telephone interview. There’s no indication the rods were stolen, she said. Three shipments of radioactive rods were sent, each in its own metal cylinder, known as a pig, which is about 10 inches long and weighs 20 pounds. Two of the containers arrived at their destination, which Munoz declined to identify.
