Obama is a classic liberal Democrat. He will tax and spend, no doubt in my mind. The problem is, so will the Republicans. They are not conservative anymore. Bush was right to cut taxes. Problem was, he did not cut spending. He was not conservative! I know the arguement is raised that 9/11 forced Bush's hand to deficit spend. That a failing economy as a result of the "tech bubble" exploding forced him to also. But did 9/11 have to result in two wars that are bleeding us dry with no end in sight? Did the tech bubble have to lead to the Fed lowering interest rates to the point it gave us the "housing bubble"? I know this is an immense simplification of the situation on my part, but books can, and are, being written of how the Republicans have lost their way. They are infected by a Neo-Con philosophy that is, dare I say, Marxist in it's world outlook of global hegemony and socialist when it comes to it's increasing collusion of big business and big government. I despised Clinton. But damn, it takes a hell of a screw up like Bush proved himself to be to make most people I know long for the days Clinton was President. Democrats are liberals. But my beloved Republicans are liars and that must be worse. If only Ron Paul was the Republican candidate. One can dream....
