Fired. Can union bring back?

Seen it go both ways. Last year a 30 year feeder driver got fired for not punching out on break when he stopped at a convenience store to get a snack, he's gone.
It's not who you know--it's who you .... P.S. There is probably more to this story than stopping to buy a candy bar and a cup of coffee to stay awake.

The truth never changes.
We had a guy in my building get a warning letter for pulling over to answer a phone. He was stopped for 18 minutes and did not punch out on break for the personal call. He retired less than a year later.
The diad training never said you had to go on break to answer or diad a call. Just be pulled over out of the right of way.

Seeing how easy it is to actually truly "steal time" and milk the clock, if they literally fired you for stealing time that means they have hard evidence, documentation or observation of you stealing time.

You're probably gonna be ok but they are gonna drag your hearing out so you will be on unpaid leave and they will do it to get their money back.
How does that "get their money back"?
More likely, to make an example of him.

I've heard stories of feeders fired for stopping at casino's and not punching out. Pretty stupid.

But then, that top hand seniority makes you feel special and without reproach. And with GPS

and telematics....I can imagine an alert of some kind flags any unscheduled stoppage in a

feeder path or any deviation. Pretty stupid if you don't realize this.

Yeah, but 18 minutes for a phone call is too much on the job, wuz he really doo ing a #2 in the cargo area?

Where in his post did it say that the driver took 18 minutes?
As integrity said there's a lot of details left out of this situation. If there were restrooms available in his immediate area there would be no reason to take a dump or a leak in the back of your package car unless you had an immediate diarrhea issue.

Gotcha. Still, there was no time limit set. If there was an emergency call that lasted that long I wouldve coded out personal time.

I much did he pay into the union over those 30 years? Did he at least get that money back?
