If that cost were paid at the pump instead of being passed on to future generations in the form of a massive deficit, the dollar figures you quote might be different. I will agree that corn is a poor method of producing ethanol, but it is a start. And the reality is that over half the corn grown in this country is used for animal feed anyway....and the same animals can still be fed with the residues after the ethanol is distilled. Like it or not, fossil fuels are running out. We can drill all we want but it is only delaying the inevitable.</blockquote>
