Ground is a way for Fedex to cut costs by not giving it's employees anything far from Wal-Mart wages. The brilliance of the whole thing (the evil brilliance) is that the burden is supposedly passed on to the contractors to give their employees benefits instead of Fedex providing them even though Fedex Ground is a company under the Fedex name. While all of this happens, the majority of the public naturally doesn't know the difference between Ground and Express and why would they? Fedex Ground allows the public to think they are getting great Fedex service (which is often BS in the first place, but something that the public often expected when using Express.), when they are using an entirely different company from Express - the company that built what Fedex is today. It's all BS really. If it's not a scam, it's just a really messed up way of running a business and it shouldn't be tolerated. The lawsuits against Ground are going to keep coming and that's a good thing.
