Happy Founders Day

That video this morning was cornier than those old Haz-Mat videos we were forced to watch every year. I figured those "humorous" videos would never be topped !

We got a Publix sheet cake, a bottle of water, and a chance to sing along to the video. I got my 35 year plaque, which I thought was nice. I had a good day with only 142 stops to start a vacation week.

I thought about the 'stroking his ego' part of it, but when Tie comes on here and says thank you to us instead of saying all of us are 'union thugs' or whatever, that tells me a little bit about his character. Maybe he does care....just a little? Better not press my luck though.

Iowa its ok. Sleeve is trying to use the managment suck up insinuation to get you you to fall in line. Its a common tactic for union.

Many great upsers have helped build the company over the years

To the many true upsers who helped build this great company a sincere thank you.

Tie,I as well thank you for the recognition.Today we had a big PCM with our two big current hotshots and Mike T.,the head of operations here.He shook my hand as did everyone and presented me with a 20 year service award. To be honest,it was a nice gesture, but what the hell am I gonna do with it?A $20 Timmys card would've made me happier than spending $100 on a useless plaque .By the way founders day is not till tomorrow.I like my job,and rarely get abused. It seems that there are a fair portion of hell bent for leather sups scattered across north america that for some reason feel the need to expect totally unrealistic numbers from hard working people.
I have found that these folks can't handle the pressure put on them and if they can't find logical ways to get it done, just end up fired or moved around constantly.
God bless Everyone that really cares and does their best every day and screw the rest of 'em.

Some of that rhymes with That's Amore

Thank you Tie. It is nice to be appreciated sometimes. Your job is not an easy one either, I do not envy your responsabilities. Happy Founders Day.

Are you not amused?
Well my jelly donut was very good. Then I went out and did my close to 11 hour day.

Did my planned 10.5 day yesterday and was paid over by .20. Which means with the time bonus I was really paid under.

Its a good thing my wife has other things to do since I dont see her much monday to friday.

Sorry I didn't respond to your nice words, that was wrong. Happy Founders Day.

Happy founders day everyone. On this day we thank you for your efforts in helping build towards the success of our team 400,000 employees strong.
We thank you for the hard work ethic you have displayed that allows us all to proudly say we work for ups. And we thank the many of you who achieve service and safety milestones this year

Tie I have a pretty good idea that you do care.

I know what Sleeve was trying to do, hell I would do it to, but there are some on here, myself included, that are appreciative of what you said. It does mean something to some of us.

And no I'm not trying to suck up to you either.:happy-very:

400,000 wow! and just stop to think,if you clear $50,000 a year ups has paid you a million dollars
if you have been there 20 years.

Thanks, tie, for the kind words. Our center didn't say one word about FD. Our PCM consisted of a rapid fire safety blurb about avoiding house fires, 250 left, 5AM start time on Monday and "have a nice day". Oh, they did mention a previous pt employee who lost his life in Afghanistan last week and a request for school supplies for the kids.

I cruised past the breakroom after the sort to see if the drivers got donuts. I have a habit of swiping driver food because it's usually better than ours. They didn't get anything either.

I have to admit...the video was just plain awful. It was pretty painful to watch. Anyone else besides me feel that our current CEO, Scott Davis is a horrible public speaker? He looks so uncomfortable and wooden. He spoke at our hub a year or so ago and it was downright terrible. It was like watching a train wreck. I see that he hasn't gotten any better at it. Also a little disappointed that we didn't get anything for Founders Day (a cake, a keychain, anything) but it's not that big of a deal since I can understand the costs involved in such a thing are pretty high. The best thing that happened yesterday was that I made 9.5 and was home by 7pm to my family...that's the most important thing!

Better than "Squeeky" Eskew ... although he got better towards the end. I understand that Jim Casey was not a particularly good speaker either but he did ok.
