My cons of using the phone: -The log in process sucks. For helpers, at least. I had helpers who were able to access the UPSers site using their ID number and password on their personal phone. But yet could not log in on the helper phone. This is the second peak season where I've had log in issues for my helpers. Once again, I had to log in to the helper phone using my ownoID and password. Worked fine then. -On large bulk stops where you are not sure if you have all the pieces and must scan, the scanning process is just too slow on the phone. And the touch screen isn't responsive enough. Theres were times I'd tap the scan icon several times, and no response. They need to configure one of the volume buttons or another physical button to initiate the scan. -Unable to override level 4 deliveries to DR. On the last few days my helper and I encountered a few glitches. -One was where he'd scan a package and it would have him select which address he was making service to out of two options. And it would have the exact same address as both options. It happened numerous times and basically slowed down the process of sheeting packages . -The second glitch was he'd scan a package and select business. And the phone would still only give him the residential options (Front door, rear door, etc). We noticed this happened on shipper release packages. It was annoying and our only solution was to use the regular DIAD for those stops. Pros of using the phone: -You can get activities (get EDD) anywhere, not just at the building, simply by scanning any package in your manifest. This would come in handy for any rookie who accidentally leaves the building without downloading EDD. -On stops with one package or smaller bulk stops, there is no need to scan. Simply verify that the barcodes match and tap the package icon to select the package to sheet it. -The phone saves six names for CIR instead of just three for the DIAD. -Ability to switch between RDO and ODO. -Use of filters optimizes the delivery list. Sorting by RDO, distance, and delivery puts the stops in much better order on the phone. Overall I still prefer the DIAD V, but I'm probably biased because I've been using it for my entire driving career. If they work out the glitches with the phone and speed up the phone's scanning process, it could be a worthy successor to the DIAD V. One feature I'd like to see (unless it already exists and I didn't know where to find it). My helper and I had to take some stops off a other driver. We used XFER EDD for the DIAD. But I couldn't find an option to get activities for the phone for those stops. If they made it so you could scan a package from another manifest and get activities for another route it would be extremely helpful when you have a runner.
