If a air driver works preload, and then drives.....on same day after the 5 hours is that considered overtime? How exactly does it work? Thanks

Preloader working a 12-9 during peak, gets 4 hours OT as you are classified as a PTer for that day.

Preloader working a 4-9 inside, then does air or helper for 4 hours will get 1 hour of OT as you are classified as a FTer for that day.

And if you pull enough FT days in 90 days (though they'll never let you) you become a FTer.

In the Southern, I believe it depends on if said air driver was previously scheduled to run air that day. The OT would be at over 5 hours. If said air driver went over 8 hours, then OT is over 8. Either way, OT is figured at the rate of pay when the OT occurs.

I am in the southern, and believe when a part timer works a split shift doing w seperate jobs it is overtime after 8.
If I am mistaken, please let me know.

  • CURRENT PAY RATE 11.50
  • - REGULAR 13.500 6.03 81.41
  • - REGULAR 15.981 3.13 50.02
  • - REGULAR 11.500 26.31 302.57
  • - OVERTIME 17.250 0.24 4.14
  • - OVERTIME 23.971 4.09 98.04
  • - TOTAL HOURS WORKED 39.80
  • - CURRENT TOTALS 536.18
You can see that I worked 39.80 hours that week, but only received 4.33 hours OT. There was one day I worked 5.24 hours inside (0.24 OT). 15.981 is Saturday air. No OT on that day with only 3.13 hours. The remainder is the preload/air days. OT after 8 hours worked.

Wherever I see Trump, it smells like he's Putin.
Here a pt'er gets OT only if they either: go over 5 hours in their assigned/bid pt job, OR after 8 if they go combo and drive along with their assigned/bid pt job.

Off-topic but In our hub, it doesn't work that way for peak. If you put your name on an 8 hour list as a part-timer, you do not receive OT after 5 hours, only after 8. But you are guaranteed 8. It's a clever way for UPS and the union to stick it to part-timers. If no one signed the list, they'd all be getting 8 hours and 3 hours OT a day, minimum.

They tried that in my building. Everyone just came in on the posted start times. Management finally relented after two days. Strength in unity.
