I am going to tread lightly with this question...

Do you ever feel weird being part of a group that helps run organized crime? Especially those of you in the locals in the NE and North Central part of the country?

I could go deeper with the questions but don't want to step on any toes if at all possible. I am just curious if you ever think about it.

If you have some sort of evidence that UPS or the Teamsters "helps run organized crime", I would hope you would present that evidence to the proper authorities.

    UpstateNYUPSer Very proud grandfather.

Now that you mention it, I was curious that everyone in our Union hall was named Gambini.

Seriously, this is a stupid thread based upon an assumption that has long since faded in to oblivion. upandcomer needs to fadeawayasap.

You might want to get someone to start your car for you. Your statement that we are part of a group that helps run organized crime is about as dumb as us saying that you posting on the internet is proof of ones stupidity.

Of course in your case we now have evidence.

What kind of question is that? Are you looking for your little moment in the spotlight with something this ridiculous?

Considering you elected the son of one of the greatest organized crime moguls in the history of the United States, whom was part of the organization when his father was in control, and who replaced an organized crime member himself. May lead some people to think that the Teamsters still have the roots of organized crime tied throughout.

I am far from saying the average Union member is involved in any way.

I do challenge you all to read up about on your history. Buy a book, go to the library, Wikipedia isn't the end all, be all to information in the world.

Some argue the late Hoffa had no ties to organized crime, some say he was their patsy (the Kennedy's), and some believe he ran organized crime.

Just hard to overlook building casinos, or paying people off with your hard earned retirement dollars, and to say that connection just disappears when its strongest leader son is in charge, is almost as laughable as all your standard responses.

I guess that is why I said I would tread lightly. I more than respect the average Union person. I think they represent the heart of America. Most Union people are hard working, family people, who make the United States operate on a day to day basis.

I just laid the question out there to see if anyone had ever really thought about it before. It wasn't intended to be a shot or poking at what you represent at all.

Listen moron! Do you think that little jimmy is half the man his father was? After having jimmy for 10 years, i do not believe that they share the same dna!

If we ran organized crime would the teamsters have sold us on split raises?

Why would they have allowed ups to but out of the cs pension plan crippling it?

Why would yrc be giving back 10% of their wages?

Why would the teamsters have organized ups freight and not got them involved in a multi employer pension fund?

I believe its you that needs to read up and get yourself a little educated!

We are the weakest we have been in decades, we have no power, the companies do not fear us, and this would not be the case if we ran "organized crime"!

Actually, I think it's the other way around. Unless you mean, a group that helps fund organized crime, then you may be on to something.

By the way, there's a couple of guys named Moose and Rocko that will be knocking on your door in about 30 seconds. They just wanna have a little tawk wit ya.:wink2:

Organized Crime is not set out to benefit the many, only the select few at top who benefit from getting paid off. UPS specifically wouldn't be a great target of organized crime, especially since 9/11. Smaller unionized regional freight carriers is where it would be at.

Hoffa has made a push to start re-growing the Teamsters. I believe the 2008 year was the first year of growth since many years ago.
