THE TOWERS

OPENING ITS TIRED EYES
A CITY AWAKENS SLOWLY
WITH A DAWN OF CRYSTAL BLUE SKIES
TOWERS GLISTEN IN REFLECTION
OF THE GOLDEN LIGHT

SUDDENLY DOWN THE RIVER OF DREAMS
A DREADFUL SHADOW ENTERS
HOVERING TOWARD ITS TARGET
SLAMMING IT WITH UNIMAGINABLE FORCE
THEN AGAIN

LIKE A PIERCING KNIFE INTO ITS SOUL
THE CITY FREEZES IN TIME
AS THE SHRILL OF SIRENS
CARRY THROUGH HER CANYONS

LIKE A WAILING CRY
SHE ALERTS THE WORLD
AN ACT THAT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED
PLAYS OVER AND OVER

BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN
ARE BECKONED TOWARD HER
THE TOWERS COMPROMISED NOW
STAND WOUNDED AND BROKEN

EXPELLING LIFE THEY STAND SADLY
AS PEOPLE SCURRY TO LEAVE HER
RESCUE WORKS ENTER
IMMINENT DISASTER AWAITS

THEIR FRAGILE FRAMES ARE DESTROYED
THEY HEAVE AND LET GO AN UNIMAGINABLE GASP
AS THE FLOORS BEGIN TO FAIL

AND FLOOR AFTER FLOOR FALLS
ONE STRIKING ANOTHER
PILING AND GATHERING FORCE
AS THEY PLUMMET TO THE GROUND

A DUST CLOUD OF ALL ITS LIFE
FOR A SHORT TIME GIVES THE
GHOSTLY SHADOW OF ITS MAJESTIC FIGURE
AND THEN THE WIND
USHERS IT AWAY
LIKE IT NEVER WAS!

[h=3]Remembering 911[/h]
It was September 11, 2001,
A terrorist plane hit the Pentagon.
Another plane crashed in a field,
No one aboard that plane lived.
The World Trade Center Towers were also hit by planes,
As they came tumbling down they left many remains.
Some lost a mother, some a father,
Some a son, some a daughter.
Some a husband, some a wife,
Somany people lost their life.
Some lost a sister, some a brother,
Some even lost that significant other.
So many lives lost, oh what a waste,
Innocent lives lost that can never be replaced.
We can never forget the ones who died,
Those who made sure someone else stayed alive.
Their efforts should be applauded by all,
Those brave people who answered the call.
The ones who made their way to Ground Zero.
I consider them the true hero!

Tribute To 9-11 Victims.....

We banded as brothers,
as sisters, as mothers,
fathers, friends, lovers
on that tragic day we
call 9/11

The billowing smoke
filled our eyes, our minds,
every part of our souls
as New York's crown jewels
collapsed to the ground

Average joes sat in their seats
unbeknownst to the evil
that awaited them
They stood up united

Boeing 767-200 hit the
Pentagon,
killing anyone in its path

Thud after thud
People ran and ran,
for their lives, for
their sanity

Americans will
never forget this day
as our sons, our daughters,
friends, lovers,
mothers, fathers,
uncles, aunts,
grandparents
were innocently
killed

3,000 lives were
lost
Workers
Firemen
Policemen
Passengers
Plane Crew

Never forget
September 11, 2001

Some personal experiences as a result from that day First my daughter was a USAF reserveist attached to the fighter base closest to NY that was officially stood down at the time . We recieved a call almost immediately stating this is Sgt so and so this is a secure line report immediately ( to active duty ) The next thing we know she is flying armed Raven missions in Afghanistan . Her brother my son who is the exact opposite of his sister has played rugby in 2 Bingham Cups (Ireland and New York ) honoring Mark Kendall Bimgham one of the dead heroes of flight 93. I am proud of them both.

God bless the souls of those who died at the hands of the terrorists on 9/11/2001. May their families and friends find strength on the anniversary of this tragic day.

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City forensic technicians are still identifying human remains found in the rubble of the World Trade Center nearly a decade after the 9/11 attacks. The office of New York City's medical examiner announced Tuesday that it had successfully matched a set of remains to 40-year-old Ernest James of New York, who had been assumed dead in the collapse.
A spokeswoman says James was identified within the last few days through DNA testing.
He worked for the professional services company Marsh & McLennan, which lost more than 350 employees and consultants. James' fiancée says he worked on an upper floor of the North Tower, the first building struck by hijackers.
Authorities have identified the remains of 1,629 victims. Nearly 2,800 people died at the trade center on 9/11.
