IRS withdraws penalty against FedEx Ground

I'm surprised too. It did say the ruling was tenative and that the investigation was continuing. That said, I doubt that it will have much influence on the overall Ground contractor lawsuits. FedEx may have cut some sort of deal with the IRS, or they might still have to pay a yet to be determined amount. FedEx lost big in CA last week, and will undoubtedly lose again when the big class action is decided in the near future. That makes the IRS fine suspension somewhat odd...I really doubt that the old contractor model will prove legal in court.
