Is porn OK?

The center just did a mass sweep of all the trucks the other day and they found porn (magazines) in 3 drivers trucks. My question: Are they in violation of anything? I mean I don't know where it says we cannot carry pornographic material. I understand its not the right thing to do/have (common sense) just curious about the technicalitys and how this might go down for them.

I hope those three drivers aren't made to demonstrate the Eight Keys of Lifting and Lowering in front of everybody during the PCM.

When i cover drove, there were a few drivers that had magazines discreetly hidden in a UPS envelope.

I always wondered why they never brought a lunch bag when they walked in the building in the AM ! :salute:

Illegal no. Common sense yes. Not much different than when they search and find multiple loaded piss bottles (some in the same truck for that matter) that have been there quite a while.

Thanks for the laugh this morning Scratch. I often make "innuendoes" on how the 8 keys to lifting and lowering remind me of some type of sex act... (only to those I know of course)....

1 Get Close....
2 Position Feet..
3 Bend at the Knees..
4 The rest is up to your imagination.... ; ) .....but please do not forget the "smooth and steady motion"..

I would think that since no one else is allowed on the pkg car that it would be OK for a driver to have porn. I would think it would be like a public campground or picnic area---"Bring it in, carry it out"---in other words, don't leave it on the pkg car. If I were a driver covering one of those areas the porn would be tossed in to the nearest trash can.

If a woman or a religious person was unloading that pkg car and found it offensive, it could be grounds for some type of sexual harassment at work.....UPS is always looking to protect the brand, and in this new era of law suites, I can't blame them !! keep the porn out of the pkg car ! One less target on your back !! JMO

Woah woah......porn still comes in magazine form??? Then what are computers or smartphones for???
That's what I was thinking. Someone actually took the time to go into a store, take out money and actually BUY porn? Wow!That's three drivers who really need to catch up with the times. They probably all still have beepers instead of phones.:wink2:

This would be my guess as to why the sweep happened at all. some people just don't have a sense of humor. Personally, I could care less. Hell, we deliver it.

It would only come into an issue if customers come in contact. But seriously, we live in an age of smart phones. Do people still buy porn mags? iPhones, droids, HTC, the new mobile porn mags!!

A person who had been the victim of a sexual assault or molestation might not see see the humor in it.

Leaving aside any personal opinions about porn, the company has every right to protect itself from the potential liability of a worker claiming sexual harassment because of porn in the workplace. If someobody wishes to posess and look at porn on their own time that is their personal business, but it is not appropriate to leave pornographic material lying around in full view in a package car, or on the belt, or in the office or the locker room at work.

I usually had one of those little "girly" calendars that the bars or auto parts stores gave away stuck on my dash. Every time someone would think it was their duty to throw it away another one would take its place. I use to pick up at a magazine distributor who handled every know smut book there was. The had a big box of last months "free" ones sitting in the shipping roon so on occasion I would grab a few. Hell- I'm only human---and a guy.
