FedEx Corp. said its FedEx Express unit recently launched an upgraded version of its SameDay City service in Miami. The Memphis-based delivery giant has provided same-day delivery in Miami and 27 other U.S. cities since 2008, but now provides pickup and delivery in as short as three hours in the Miami area, the company said. Miami is among nine U.S. cities getting the faster service. Others are Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Minneapolis. A FedEx spokeswoman said Miami was targeted because of expected demand for such service, particularly among some of the city’s key business sectors that deal in financial services, health care and perishables. The same-day delivery, which goes head to head with local couriers, comes in two offerings: Standard service provides pickup by noon for delivery by the end of the business day.
