There is no progressive discipline if it’s a cardinal sin.

just the grievance procedure after termination.

In my opinion there's always two immediate shop stewards and one of them is good and the other has been completely brainwashed by the company (or company culture in general) and does not even know it.
I hope they meant slam dunk as in "It's totally not going to get you fired bro"
File a grievance, request back pay if it is black/white or otherwise be humble and honest about it at panel.

If it's something really murky like mis-recording in the diad and you are new then it's not a slam dunk by a long shot. I find a lot of idiots even on the union side try to treat failure to follow procedure the same way as dishonesty.

Quit cheating and UPS will stop gunning for you. Just do the job the right way. It’s not a difficult concept.

Good Steward or Bad Steward, his job is to tell the employee to shut his mouth, end any and all meetings related to the termination, and for the Steward to call the BA. It’s that simple.
