Local 710 is so messed up

We have a change of operations going on where my hub is losing the day sort. 710 Rockford is getting our jobs and they won't allow people to dovetail in. Oh but if 710 has a change of operations there members move to a different local they would be allowed to dovetail.

What kid of double standard is this. Aren't we supposed to be a brotherhood and look out for all members.

So how is anybody supposed to be able to follow work that they are losing. You can't really move 4 hours away on a moments notice and be on call. What, should people just live out of there vehicles?

I guess this must be how 710 sees it. 710 wants see current union members get laid off in other locals so they can have more work. While hiring brand new people. Way to go 710. That's the way to look out for fellow teamsters!

They are cutting the day sort where you are and processing the work at the Rockford hub. Nothing has really changed.

Are they letting the day sort workers move to other jobs at your hub?

Yes they are cutting the whole day sort. That affects all part timers and the feeder drivers that pull off that sort.

Part-timers can bump to a different shift with seniority or transfer to Rockford.5 Full time feeders drivers can transfer but will endtail at Rockford also. This is what's called a change of operations. It falls under article 36 I think of the national.

We lost a run to 710 cach and it was the same way. Total circus. Treated like dirt. In the end the guy ended up transferring back.

The simple question is, is what 710 doing right? They are allowed to dovetail in when they have a change of operations and move local. But they won't allow other people to dovetail in when they get the other locals work.

Yep, it's my understanding that Local 710 and 705 (804 also) have there own stand alone contract and are not beholding to the National Master?
L804 is under the NMA.

It's Art 38 of the NMA, and the language calls for dovetailing seniority.
Under there Chang of operations it doesn't say anything about dovetailing or endtailing. Artical 8 in the 710 contract
L710's book has several sections on change of ops. Art 8 Sec 3, 4, 6 & 7 specify dovetailing seniority. Not sure what you're reading.

You can enforce your rights by filing a grievance.

Really? And how did the guy "transfer" back? Did the run change again to follow back?
What does 710 contract say about change of operations?
It says you can't make stuff up and post on BC, or you'll be banished to a desert island with Upstate and anHourover.

The run never changed back. We lost it. He transfered back.
What do you have to add to the conversation?
Do you want to talk about the rampant use of contractors? Or about how 710 is in trusteeship?

If the run didn't come back how did the driver "transfer" back? As has been pointed out in other threads, unless one follows a run, there is no transferring.
You appear to be attempting to change the subject. Talk about anything you want, but do it honestly.
