Functionality? Defined as what? This incident? Or overall? I can't speak to the overall functionality of 804 because I am not a member there. But a quick peek at the LM2's before and after the TS slate, I'd say the overall functionality of the local has gotten better. I understand they won re-election recently, and I can't help but think that fact speaks for itself... As far as this incident? I don't know. I do know that those 200+ drivers showed some balls of steel by risking their jobs and walking out in a show of solidarity for their terminated brother. The BA put his job on the line as well by calling for the wildcat. Was it a smart move? Definitely not. Anyone who tells you different is a sympathizer. Did it send a message to UPS? You bet your ass it did. Any show of solidarity like this shakes the power structure to its core. But it is not a black and white, right or wrong issue. The BA did not act as a TDU representative, he acted as a Representative of The Teamsters Union. He took a stand as a leader, and his members voluntarily followed him and it sent an echo across the entire company as well as the Union. We'll see where it all lands.
