Losing classification because of building closure.

Our building is closing in the next few months; I'll likely lose my less than 8 air bid and go back to the preload.

I was told if I were to become a full-time driver at the new building, my pay would go back to the original driver pay, and I would start that progression. If I were to go full-time while I was an air driver, I would have been red-circled at 37.94. Can they really strip my classification and pay? I've been a top air rate for 6 years now. It seems crazy to lose classification and start fresh.

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

I would think you would hold that spot until a new bid unless the new building has the same position held by someone with more seniority.

All you do is follow your work. I think you are mixing apples and oranges a little here. If you are a PTmer, you follow the work, if there is no air work, then you’d work inside the building at your applicable rate of pay. Are you air qualified or air combo? If you were PT, and went FT, you would have to go through progression either way. You can’t go backwards however, so you’d lock in and until the progression passed your rate you should be paid your current rate.

Where did you get all of this information? UPS or your Local?

Ba said I would essentially go back to being a preloader / exception air driver at top rate, meaning I would go full time starting at my red circled insider rate, whatever that is.

I asked our unions president and he said I would essentially keep my less than 8 bid, But theres no air work at the new building meaning I would be a preloader, But when I go full time I would start at my rate of $37.

With all of that being said, Who knows what's going to happen with me.

It sucks and it's going to be a mess trying to figure out your inside pay rate
