Not a meaningless post, I just needed to release this somewhere... I don't read the obits on a regular basis, but when I do, I find someone I knew. I don't know why I read the obits today, but I knew two people. I am just stumped by the damn feelings dancing in my mind...how many lives have touched mine and go unrecognized by me. My band instructor from Jr High and a doctor I really liked. My band instructor taught me to play tenor sax. I never thought of him, that is until today, because I was a selfish, self-serving brat that thought she was special because she could play sax and violin. He never knew that the foundation he cemented ultimately resulted in me gathering instruments for the schools in New Orleans after Katrina. The doctor fixed my shoulder. He wore cowboy boots. It was a WC case and the first doc really messed me up. I begged /asked the WC Case provider to send me to the best doc in the city. I was sent to Cowboy Boot doc. I think of him every time I do my shoulder / arm workout. I think, "Wow, I bet Dr. ######, would love knowing I could curl 25lbs and do full push ups. I have sent other patients to him. He would be considered a company doctor. I would preface my recommendation with a warning...if you are faking seek treatment somewhere else. Lives touch us everyday. Some make big indents in our Armour and some just nick the surface. The doctor knew he made a difference in my life. The band director did not know he made a difference. Why was I provided this gift enlightenment today while reading the obits? Both men, now with God, touched me. Yesterday, I would have said the doc made the bigger difference in my life. He made a big indent in my Armour. Today, I know it was the band instructor. He nicked the surface... I listen to the proof on the streets of New Orleans. I know I made a ripple by collecting instruments from the attic and basements of people I knew...and giving up my own sax and violin. And the bigger question is, Why was I drawn to read the OBITS today?
