Maybe some people go through life without expecting favors from these people...you don't cozy up to a snake...sorry if you percieve that as tough guy attitude.....you may wake up one day and realize you are only any good to this company as long as you have a strong back and weak mind
I must have something to offer..Been there 28 years full-time...nothing bitter about it, I just go to work every day ,on time, and do my job--no SPECIAL favors required, no special RELATIONSHIP with my boss, none of that. It does sicken me to watch grown men and women come in and act like total fools.....The beauty of so many years at this company is, I get to see people who act like this still get treated the exact same as a "BITTER" person as you call them. Sooner or later, fence sitters find out the reality of UPS, thats what makes it funny. As some can attest who work with me, I am far from bitter. I am a well respected steward(for 26years), father, and husband. I understand coming in and doing "favors"(definitely don't agree with it) I just don't think ANYONE should HAVE to do that. When you , or anyone else does it, it gives managers cause to believe ALL should do the same---sickening. Sorry if that upsets your DELICATE ego. It's funny how you attack fellow workers for being "TOUGH GUYS" yet you give "hard zzz" center manager's a pass...it really makes one wonder...HMMMM. No Bitterness---it's a job.You make my point. It must suck being so miserable. Out of curiosity, do you consider yourself "good to this company" or just a hang around that's a pain in the neck to deal with?
Did UPS make you so bitter or did your bitterness begin as a result of things jus\t never seeming to go your way? I'm really interested in your perspective on this.

that's all I need to read
Depending on the quality of your relationship with your management team one could call back in a reasonable amount of time. If you're scheduled off then stick to your guns and don't go in, but call. The reason I say this is if you burn the bridge then when you call to get a day off or another favor they might wait until the end of the day on you also. One trick is to have a spouse call back. They can get the info and tell of your inability to come in without the pressure from mgmt.
Be be careful with the "I've been drinking" excuse. Use it and a hardass center manager will have someone waiting to talk to you about your perceived alcoholism as he pulls you from service until YOU can prove your ok. I've seen it happen. Once in pkg and twice in feeder.
Yesterday at I got a phone call at 130am asking me to come in early. Ok, $100 is enough motivation. But when I got to work I informed the new specialist that called to do so at a reasonable hour as he was lucky I caught it on first ring rather than it wake my wife who would have ripped him a new one up to his ears.
Or, you could both whip them out and measure them, and end this now. Cynic will bring the ruler.Thats all you need to read? Let's try reading a little harder.
1) I said "DEPENDING on the quality of your relationship with your mgmt team one COULD call back in a reasonable amount of time"
That means if you have a decent group then return that decency by calling back in a reasonable amount of time. OR if you work for a bunch of pricks then obviously you will reciprocate appropriately. See how it's left open for either side?
2)I said "If you're scheduled off then stick to your guns and don't go in, but call. The reason I say this is if you burn the bridge then when you call to get a day off or another favor they might wait until the end of the day on you also."
That means play whatever game you want calling back but don't be surprised when mgmt plays the same game when you call looking for whatever favor you want. Not "another favor" as you quoted. Not favors. Not favoratism.
3)I said "one trick is to have your spouse call back".
You out got me there. I meant to say have your spouse answer the call. This was in response to the guys posting that they didn't want to speak to whomever mgmt was on the line. Guys don't want to answer the call? There's a way to get the msg yet remain untouchable. But, I did not say "have my spouse call in" as you stated.
As far as the " I've been drinking" remarks, as I said I've see it three times bite someone when the wrong member of management wants to play. Did they get fired? No. But they were marched off to the clinic for tests, got to sit and talk to HR, and all other kinds of fun things till mgmt made sure they weren't sending someone under the influence out on the road. Can't be too safe when someone is making claims every time you talk to them on the phone now can you?
Did that explain it a little better or do you still want to try and impress us by how far you can pee?
Feeling attacked now, eh? It must suck being such a bitter person...
