Looks like APWA is trying to prove legitimacy by filing some BS cases.

OH MY GOD!!!!
Tie is carrying IBT water too!

Hey Tie,
On that feeder discharge and I'm just guessing here but it could be he/she was engaging in APWA activity while on the clock. That would be stealing time and the appropiate contract sections would apply. I'm guessing this because back in the 80's as the TDU heat was starting to really ramp up pressure on the IBT, many TDU activists were threatened under thos provision if they were passing out TDU literature while on the clock/on the job. If they are engaged in these activities on the clock the company is justified in taking actions up to and including discharge to remedy this situation.

Now at the same time I've also seen selective use of these provisions by the company as they might go after an employee for TDU or APWA and in some case IBT activity but turn a blind eye when another employee goes from worker to worker hitting them up to buy candy to support their kid's ball team. I personally believe that type of thing should only be done totally off the worksite and me personally I'd not even do it period with co-workers. But that's just me. Again, just a guess on my part but I'd not be surprised to learn he/she was on the clock doing APWA activity.

Re: Waiting for an Update

Does not make sense . What article of the contract would he be discharged under?

Probably discharged for talking about the union on company time.....A big no no. That is spelled out in the contract, can't argue with Brown about that!

Really, where at does it say you cant talk about the union on company time? Please be a little more specific.

Re: Waiting for an Update

you can't pass out union literature etc...to people on the clock in work areas, and you can't be on the clock in that circumstance etc...but as long as you're not interferring with someone working, you're ok.

I was just stating that in general about what ups man stated. I don't know what he was referring to either.
