if you call in sick, but then show up at 1500 the same day and you end up working, does that still count as an occasion?

What was the start time for that shift? If it was 1500 you would be fine.

Never admit to oversleeping. You were too sick to call in. You have a fever and a cough and will be contacting your primary care guy. See you in two weeks.

Yes it a no call no show. You have to call 1 hour before the shift starts. One no call is a warning. 3 in a row is a termination.

Is it 3 in a row or 3 occurrences in a year?

3 in a row is an automatic discharge. After you get your warning for your first no call no show. As for 3 no calls within a year, I am not sure. How it is. Pretty sure it progresses to Warning>Suspension>Discharge
