[QUOTE="Bill, post: 193504, member: 5483"] We have no choice but to rid ourselves of the Teamsters. They ignored the pension problem they knew existed years ago, but now it is beyond the point of no return. When they are confronted with this issue, there are no answers. The health benefits are in the same critical condition. We keep paying more through higher deductibles, co-pays and the portion of the doctor's bill that they no longer cover. When is this going to stop? Ups gives more than enough money annually to fully fund both the pension and medical benefits, but the Teamsters are set up in a multi-employer fund so that our UPS money is shared with others working for companies outside of UPS. The Teamsters blame UPS for not contributing enough money, but the truth is the Teamsters are mismanaging our money for their own benefit, and giving away a huge portion to people of other companies. It doesn't matter who runs the Teamsters, whether it is Hoffa, Leedham or any other candidate. The system is set up to fail as they are obligated to take from the rich (UPS), and give to the poor. The only way to fix this problem is to set up a union that is for UPS people only, and this insures that UPS employees receive all the money that UPS contributes. With an annual contribution of 1.3 billiion dollars, we should receive at least 6-7 thousand dollar a month pension, but that is not the case, as OUR money is diverted through the Teamsters to others. Also, our health benefits should be much better as they were years ago, but once again, we have the Teamsters to thank for this. We can correct these problems, and that is why we are trying to replace the Teamsters with the APWA (a union for UPS employees only).
