[QUOTE="wkmac, post: 496017, member: 2189"] Chev, Not pointing you out specifically but your comments make me think of times and actions past. When republicans ran the show and voices of opposition appeared, it wasn't uncommon to hear the hues and cries of foul with charges of being unpatriotic, in some case treasonous or some other claim of devilish motive. Republicans along with many democrats made some actions that many consider potentially useful in smashing free speech and free expression but they never went so far as to push regulating radio although there was a quiet consideration of some manner of the internet but most of that was aimed towards democrat actions as they used the internet very well to move their message. If republicans dominate radio as some suggest (I personally don't buy that) then it can equally be said that democrats/liberals/progressives control the interent. Not really but they used this tool effectively to advance their agendas. Now the shoe is on the other foot and I know the title of the thread concerns Obama's lies and I agree, IMO he has lied as well but at this point he's been public that he opposes bringing back the fairness doctrine. Now that could change as obviously he has bigger fish to fry right now but as they say, keep your powder dry! Henry Waxman recently was a lead dog in the fairness doctrine but it came to light that he was also himself considering the internet as well. This raised the hackles of many liberal/progressives so Waxman and Co. pulled in the horns and just tended to their fires instead. However, republicans now had their boogeyman to serve as the useful tool so why let sleeping dogs sleep? Truth is, both sides play this political game of using boogeymen, straw men and red herring to drive the masses and it works pretty effective too.
