Off clock Injury during 30 day

Looking for thoughts or advice from anyone out there. I was hired back in June, did the 3 day online training then sent to 2 day face-to-face. Passed the driving test, 5's and 10's, ect..
Following Tuesday I started at my local center. Had On Road Supt with me first few days. No problems, seemed to be going really smooth.
On my way to work for what would have been my first day on car alone, I was in a car accident, which was no fault of my own.
5 months later I was released to go back to work by the doctor. Had been talking to bosses during my absence, very supportive.
When I was finally able to return, it hit peak season. So now instead of in qualifying or my status as being a full time driver, I'm a seasonal driver. Been working 6 weeks 40+ hour weeks.
No talk from union, no benefits, but on upsers it has my seniority date and everything back in June. Have been running a rural route and always under RBT. Any thoughts or suggestions on if I will be back on track after peak to finish qualifying, or can peak hours count towards my 30?
For now I'm just keeping my head down, doing what I'm told, working as much as I can. No one has said a word about anything I've down wrong or suggestions on how to improve. My 1st day back I had an on road Supt ride with me, he was going to for a few days. 2nd day he called me and said I'm in my own, he could tell I could handle it im assuming?
For the union, I do pay for the 401k but notice union dues not coming out of my check, although on upsers it says I'm current/good. No idea if I'm actually in the union or not. Kinda feel like I'm slipping through multiple cracks until someone catches on.. Thoughts?

Don’t worry he’s friendly
From the talk I’m guessing you filed an fmla for your short term away from work. Usually they just freeze your seniority date and it continues once you return. You cannot do qualifying during the holiday seasons and such. If you still have days left you will resume for the rest of it afterwards. For now wait.

He's not eligible to file for FMLA
He never qualified as a driver and now they're using as a seasonal apparently
so basically he screwed he will get no benefits or anything else unless the company keeps him and lets him do his 30 days again

I wasn’t a qualified driver and filed a short term fmla unpaid absence when I destroyed the right side of my hand summer 2019
Unless he was an off the street hire. I had already been working there for 8 months though.

Why weren’t you following the depth of knowledge while driving? Doesn’t matter if it’s a personal vehicle or work vehicle… But by the way at least 110% of us made it here and graduated by falling through the cracks so not much to worry about there…

OP were you originally hired as a FT driver or did you work in some other inside part time UPS job? Sounds like off the street hire. I’ve is correct in that case if you only worked at UPS a few days (actually anything under 12 months) the FMLA law does not apply to you yet. So UPS could have just said “bye bye” when you couldn’t come to work anymore.

But they are not required to terminate you and by your upsers it looks like they did keep you active (not surprised as HR and Payroll at UPS are twin poop shows). That helps.

A break in your qualifying period this long basically nullified your first attempt and your work during peak generally won’t count in most locals but I think they should allow you to start your 30 days over again post peak, you should certainly be a the top the list to be next on qualification.

I agree with others keep showing up keep doing your job well (don’t run) do right things for right reasons in long run past six months will just be a bump in the road,

So you don’t really “pay” for a 401k, you are saving your own money in your own retirement account. The 401k plan is established jointly by union and company but the money is not held be either, it is invested for your retirement. (BTW choose the “Roth” option so your retirement money grows and is spent tax free years down the road, the Dems are coming and they want to tax the holy poop out of “the rich” and $100k UPS drivers are more than rich enough in the eyes of the socialists.)

But not seeing any union dues is a problem, you most definitely should be signed up if you hired on last summer. Find the FT driver in your center who is the union steward and talk to him/her. They should also be able to advocate for you to determine exactly what what happen with your qualification after peak period. If your local steward doesn’t seem to be helpful contact your local union hall and ask for the Business Agent tha UPS contract for your area.

Good luck, junior brother!
