Remember back in the 70 and 80's is wasn't BD.,we were customer service representatives. We did everything from getting leads from drivers and tracers, driver follow- ups. We wore more hats that the company has today. I think one of the biggest problems today is UPS has loss that personal contact with our customers. Because your AE don't stay in the area before they are move,or has the take on more area. Drivers are still the best source of leads, even today. It's the way BD processes the leads, through a telemarketing, these people are clue less when it comes to UPS. In my center we had 101 leads turn in and 25 have been sold. What is going on?? Drivers will not turn in leads if they don't see them being sold. Right now freight leads are selling in our area, we just don't have enough sales rep or AE to handle the volume of leads coming in, this is out of 33 centers in my district. We all want to retire one day, and want UPS to be around for another 100yrs. so, we can draw retirement. I just hope in my heart of heart UPS wakes up soon, this see that personal contact with customer shows what UPS is all about.
