[QUOTE="Jakamoe, post: 4578095, member: 74459"] I couldn't possibly write all the issues as I see them, but I will try my best to summarize. Are you familiar with the 30 basic human rights adopted by the Roosevelt administration? Approved by the USA via the UN in the 1940s? We basically break, broken, or ignore every single one of them; always have. Our education system is not uniformed, proper or even close to world leading in any regard, at the elementary levels. We spend way too much capital on our military, and abuse our military personnel; we praise them as heroes, yet ignore them when they go back to being civilians. Our gov't values business over its people. In every way possible. Starting from wages, tax exemptions, import/export, allowing businesses to be treated as a people entity, allowing business to donate to political campaigns, allowing businesses to lobby. etc. I think you see the point here. We claim to be a democratic capitalist nation, but we do not practice it. We allow horrid practices such as stock buybacks, allow businesses to go so far in debt, and then pay that debt with taxes. Our tax system as a whole is an issue. We pay way too much in taxes. By the time we get our paycheck we lose about 25%-30%. Then pay additional taxes for our property, which we technically don't even own anymore, although we should via the constitution. Then pay taxes on services, goods, imports, exports, healthcare, surcharges, the right to travel roads etc. By the time it's all said and done, we probably lose around 60% of our money just to taxes. But we refuse to fully tax businesses, religious groups, and then on top of that, even owe them money after deductions etc. Its a ridiculously complicated system that's not even taught in schools. We are a democratic nation that cannot directly vote for our representation. The constitution was designed to allow white, rich, powerful men elect our representation. It has been tweaked over the course of the many years to encompass a more "democratic" way, but we, the people, still do not directly vote for our representation. Jerry meandering, electoral college and other processes have been adopted to rig the political process in a more favorable way to keep the same politicians in office, instead of updating with times. Our news, which is directly mentioned via the Constitution, is a joke. There is no accountability, no fact checking, it is used to serve a particular political party, business or other powerful entity. Not to educate its citizens, but to demoralize, and divide. We are not free. We are spied on by our government, spied on by big business. Every single day. We are controlled as a populace. We do not own anything. You own a home? Try telling Uncle Sam that when they want to build a freeway, or tell that oil company when they want to build a pipeline through your yard. You own a car to travel our public highways? Get ready to pay taxes to the DMV, endure travel checkpoints, pay taxes to even ride that highway, bridge, tunnel. We are disillusioned to believe we are free, we have free public speech; unless of course that opinion is different from yours. The right to protest our gov't, unless it doesn't agree with their agenda. The right to bear arms to protect ourselves from a tyrannical gov't, but then they take away, or make impossible to own those said arms. Lastly, we are stuck in a paradigm of 40 hour work weeks, low wages, high taxes, that has not changed since the early to mid 1900s. It used to be 40 hour work week, for the "man" of the house, who earned a livable wage for the entire family. Home skills are rapidly declining, we hire outside help to tend to our house. We use programs such as door dash or pay for already prepped food more. Etc.
