The Air Line Pilots Association International, which represents the ASTAR workers, claims UPS' deal will lead to 10,000 <u><span style="color: #006600">job</span></u> cuts.</p><p>ASTAR pilots every night carry about 50 percent of the weight out of Wilmington, Ohio, for DHL, ALPA said. DHL is a 49 percent owner of ASTAR, which has provided air cargo services to DHL for about 30 years.</p><p>UPS (NYSE: UPS) expects to have the contract with DHL Express wrapped up by the end of 2008. The deal will likely be for 10 years and could generate up to $1 billion annually in revenue, UPS has said. The agreement would not involve the pick-up or delivery of DHL packages to their customers, only the transport of packages, primarily between airports, in North America.</p></blockquote><p></p>
