[QUOTE="wkmac, post: 1882321, member: 2189"] With the recent visit by the Pope, America heard a name not heard for several decades and that name was Dorothy Day. With that name also came criticism, much from the so-called political right with the intent of associating Day in a negative framework, in some case of being a so-called socialist or even communist. Are those claims justified? Where might Day be pigeonholed should someone need to take such a small minded approach? I consider Day and the Catholic Worker movement as both philosophically libertarian and an action of a free market but I'd never assigned them to such a narrow framework of terms. Doing so would be a disservice IMO. Their ideas of decentralization along with voluntary and non coercion/non aggression compare to certain aspects of libertarian and free market concepts yet they don't make Day et al exclusive to either form. For this I also consider Day and the Catholic Worker movement a hero even though I'd not share other doctrine and dogma POV with them.
