Populist Politics

Five of the last seven presidential administrations based their campaigns on populist politics (the exception being Bush Jr.).

Taking this into consideration, why isn’t the middle-class doing better.

For instance, the incumbent is truly a man of the people, and his policy measures undoubtedly reflect that.

And yet, during his presidency, wages have only increased by approximately one percent in real terms. What gives?

And wasn’t Obama going to “Change” things?

I’m extremely patriotic, and have a lot of faith in the electoral process, but I’m beginning to think there may not be much difference between the two parties on matters of economics.

Oh well. Social issues are pretty important, too...I guess.

Ok. What gives? Refine your questions. Consider how many obstacles Trump faces just from the Democrats. Just stop and consider. He's fighting a party doing everything it can to destroy the country. There will always be the rich and poor and something in-between. The one true common thread woven through is......freedom.

That could easily be said (and always is) about every executive when the opposing party controls at least one other branch. It's still a valid point, but it's not the only or even primary reason why nothing gets done to benefit the working class.

your faith has been misplaced. democrats sold out to corporate money starting with bill clinton. republicans fell before that. bill clinton and obama were faux liberals, they use feel your pain language but serve corporate power. trump debatably has been the most corrupt administration of all time, regardless hes been terribly corrupt. it doesnt matter who wins, goldman sachs wins either way. DNC crush less corrupt politicians like bernie. both parties crush 3rd parties. its time for a new labour militancy in the streets, or u will end up with a corporate police state, tyranny, and neo feudalism.

The people I know preoccupied with the concept of freedom are 40 somethings with exorbitant credit debt, and twenty-five-year-old managers (they invariably have to kiss their asses). Freedom woo hoo!

Because modern politics panders to the lowest common denominator minority outlier groups in the country. Purely social issues. Nothing of any substance gets accomplished. Ever. Or at least not since WW2

Ok.

Who owes you? Why? Says who? YOU control your destiny. Nobody owes you anything. What is this "primary reason"? Serious question.

I agree, but that "YOU" is more effective when it's collective, and you get what you fight for (eg our union). The wealthy know this and rationally use the ultimate collective power of our republic to protect and expand their material interests, which almost always means less rights and freedoms for the working class.
