Post trip inspections question

Yup.

Part of post trip inspection. You should place your hand close to the wheel hub feeling for any excessive heat. If it is really hot, it should be written up. Bearing and/or hub oil issue.

My sup instructed me to put hand close to the hub to check for heat but then told me, "you don't really have to put your hand that close. If it's hot, you'll know it."

Just wait for it to smell. It will smoke. No need to put your hand against it. It will also take a while to get to the breaking point.

Maybe its ok if you don't drive a lot of miles. In feeder when we put hundreds of miles on thats what burns trailers to the ground.
