My opinion? Remember, I said, MY opinion! Do as they say. You've been here 7 years, you've heard the "Work as directed" mantra many times. NOT working as directed is ONE of the quickest ways to get escorted out the building. BUT.... Have a little one-on-one with your driver(s). Tell em what's going on. If you've been this conscientious in the past (which is sounds you are) they will understand that you've got a job to do, not to please them but to please the package gods. Just tell them you have no choice, you HAVE to load it the companies way or else. You don't think THEY haven't been told the same thing? "Run this area by ORION or else". In most cases, they will understand. Not like it but they will understand. My local UPS guy was just here. This town's been on it for this past year. Just today, he said he's scheduled for about 56 miles daily. Yesterday he went 67 and they said he was 100%. He said he'd love to be home sooner if he ran it right but they want it this way so that's what he's gonna do. So, is it working? Here, on this route, NO! But what are you gonna do? Rebel and say "No way". If so, I hope you have another job lined up. In all my years at UPS (well, I was there about 6 months), I ALWAYS "Worked as Directed", whether it be package car, feeders or whatever I was bumped into. Yes, I got talked to. Yes, I got threatened. Yes, I was harassed. But nothing could ever transpire. Why? Because they didn't have a leg to stand on. When I asked them to observe me then show me the proper way, they fell apart because it was the same thing they were doing. Me? Clear conscience to the end. Again, you'll hear many stories here about rebellion and compromise but MY advice is just to "Work as directed".
