The Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee continued to make progress on a variety of issues as the third round of contract negotiations with UPS and UPS Freight wrapped up yesterday.

“We made further progress on a number of non-economic issues,” said Denis T, Director of the Teamsters Package Division and Co-Chairman of the Teamsters National UPS Negotiating Committee. “We look forward to more progress when we resume negotiations next week.”

Among other issues, the following were on the table this week:

  • Article 12, Polygraph/Timeclocks; dealing with members’ rights to receive copies of ODS messages;
  • Article 17, Paid For Time; dealing with members’ ability to review hours and rates of pay as well as confirmation and identification of grievance payments;
  • The Committee introduced a proposal dealing with Hours of Service for Package Drivers;
  • The Committee made further progress on Article 37, Section 1A, Harassment;
  • The Committee continued its discussion on the work week; a supplemental issue that the National Committee is coordinating.
In addition, subcommittees continued to meet in conjunction with the National Committee dealing with topics such as Leave of Absence, Temporary Alternate Work, and the Hazardous Materials Handling Program.

Haven't seen a vest in 15 years, like the hoodie too. Be nice to see a catalog or printout of the things or options of clothes UPS would provide. Our center oms just orders the same old stuff. One rainy day recently I did pull a old plastic light raincoat out of closet, real dark brown, old logo and the tag had the name of an old driver who has been dead 5 years. It did the job though.

Looks like UPS will be providing us with hoodies, like the guy on the left is rocking....

The center OMS can order them. They're just hard to get.

For years, most drivers just bought a carhartt one and glued on a UPS logo

taken off a hat. The company finally gave up complaining.

Just go ask the OMS for a uniform order sheet. You have a right to pick what you want.

I had one of those back in the early 90's. Bought it out of their catalog.

It sucked. All it did was make you sweat. There was a nice gore-tex one you

could by.... for $150.00. Too much money back then.

From a regional VP who has attended negotiation sessions, he doesn't seem to think that the "progress made" on article 37 is enough and that the membership will vote it down in it's current state

He thinks the entire Master will be voted down, because of one article ?

Talk about putting the cart before the horse.

True, but it was about one issue that they all failed.

Healthcare ?

Most people are reluctant to change.

As @UpstateNYUPSer pointed out on many occasions, it simply forced people

to be smarter consumers. You (now) can't go running to the ER for a case

of the sniffles. These are the people that don't even have a family doctor.

What's worse.... footing the bill for a visit to the ER ?

Or, having it paid going to an Urgent Care clinic ?

Yes, and mine actually got improved, but was the single issue that caused them to be voted down. If one issue can cause all of that in the supplements, it can cause that in the master, all I was getting at.
